The Khreshchatic Chamber Choir was organized in March, 1994. The debut og the group took place on April 9, 1994 in the Concert Hall of the Kyiv Conservatory and right after it was highly estimated by the public and musical experts: “The Khreshchatic is notable for a modesty as to the quantity of its singers perfectly selected by mellow timbre, while the total ensemble sound “vocal organizm”.

For the years of its life the choir has performed over 250 compositions including choir opera, liturgy, multi-part choir concert and A.Vivaldy’s “Gloria”. There are Ukrainian sacred music program, choir composition by Ukrainian and foreign composers, folklore direction compositions, in which the choir gravitates to theatrical show recreating original “pictures from the life of Ukrainian people”, in the creative luggage of the collective.

The Khreshchatic has its library records at the National Radio of Ukraine and the BBC in London. Its records and performances are translated by Ukrainian radio and TV. The choir has produced the records with Ukrainian sacred music of the XVI-XX centuries, together with brilliant Ukraine songstress Nina Matvienko recorded the CD (fragments of “Zolotoslov” choir opera by L/Ditchko). Khreshchatic has interest experience of collaboration with the Chamber Orchestra of the National Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (headed by V.Sirenko), the President’s Brass Band (headed by A. Molotay) and with leading Ukrainian organists (I. Kalynovska and V.Mykhayliuk).

The choir concert activity concludes performances in majestic Kyiv cathedrals (St.Volodymyr’s and St.Michael’s Cathedrals), Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, St.Alexander’s Roman-Catholic Cathedral, in cathedrals and churches of Ireland, England, France, Germany, Denmark, Latvia and Poland; in the Column Hall of the M.V.Lysenko National Philharmonic of Ukraine and in museums, parks and on small concert places of Kyiv, Slavutych, Kaniv and other cities.

From the first days this collective of like-minded persons (20 talented singers) is headed by Larissa Bukhonska, the founder and permanent creative director of the choir; she was a student of Kyiv P.I. Chaikovskiy Conservatory (prof. M.M.Kanerstain’s class).
